P.E.I. ju­nior rinks drop fi­nal games

P.E.I.’s en­tries dropped their fi­nal games Fri­day at the Cana­dian ju­nior curl­ing cham­pi­onships in Strat­ford, Ont.

Matthew Ma­cLean’s rink from O’Leary and Corn­wall fell be­hind 5-0 af­ter three ends in a 9-2 loss to Nova Sco­tia in seed­ing round ac­tion.

The re­sult left the P.E.I. men’s rep­re­sen­ta­tive with a 3-6 record.

Mean­while, Katie Fuller­ton’s rink from Corn­wall fell 8-3 to North­ern On­tario to com­plete play at 4-5.

Af­ter Fuller­ton tied the game 3-3 with a sin­gle in the sev­enth end, North­ern On­tario counted five in the eighth.

The Nova Sco­tia men and North­ern On­tario women both im­proved to 5-4.

Ma­cLean’s team­mates are Alan Ma­cLean, Noah O’Con­nor and Jor­dan Ma­cLean. Aleya Quilty, Sabrina Smith and Chloe McCloskey play with Fuller­ton.

New Brunswick’s Jus­tine Comeau scored twice in the 10th end to earn a 7-5 tiebreaker win over Man­i­toba’s Abby Ack­land on Fri­day.

Comeau will face B.C.’s Sarah Daniels in semi­fi­nal ac­tion Satur­day. The win­ner takes on Nova Sco­tia’s Mary Fay in Sun­day’s fi­nal.
