The funeral mass for Leo “Damien” McManus was held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 from Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottet­own Funeral Home to St. Joseph’s Church, Kelly’s Cross. The concelebra­ted funeral mass was offered by Reverend Doug MacDonald as chief celebrant and homilist. He was assisted by Reverend Chris Sherren. The first reading was proclaimed by family friend, Stacey Dougay, and the second reading was proclaimed by daughter-in-law, Kathy McManus. The prayers of intercessi­on were offered by cousin, Dennis McManus. The funeral mass was sung by St. Joseph’s Church choir under the direction of Darlene Lowther. They rendered the opening hymn, Here I Am Lord, the psalm, The Lord’s My Shepherd, the communion hymn, Lord Jesus Of You I Will Sing As I Journey, the incensing hymn, Songs Of The Angels, and the recessiona­l hymn, How Great Thou Art. The offertory hymn, The Rose, was rendered by soloist, Darlene Lowther. The urn bearer was son, Greg McManus. Honorary pallbearer­s were Austin Bowman, Frank Curley, Eugene McCardle, Darcy MacLeod, Lowell Balderston, Bernice MacLeod, Wayne Oakes, Arnold Smith, Allan Matters, Phyllis Smith, Reta Matters, Rizpah Kennedy, Roddy MacLeod, Christie MacPhee and Margie Morris. The interment took place in St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery where Fr. Chris Sherren held the graveside service. Among those in attendance were members of the Brookvale Ski Park.
