Residents encouraged to complete personalized emergency plans

-

The City of Charlottetown Fire Department, in partnership with New York Emergency Management, encourages residents to create a customized plan for their home, business and pets.

The City has worked closely with community partners to gather information to create an additional template – “Emergency Evacuation Plan for People with Disabilities”. This specialized template can be customized to fit individual needs and identifies factors to consider and what additional assistance may be required.

The city encourages everyone to have a 72-hour survival kit in their home or business. It is important to prepare for all types of emergencies such as hurricanes, flooding, blizzards or other events that may mean days without electricity or other utilities, and potential delays in emergency response or access to supplies.

Several free emergency plan templates are available on the City of Charlottetown’s website at: www.charlottetown.ca/ emergencymeasures.php as well as the Charlottetown Fire Department’s website at: www. charlottetownfire.com/emergency-plan-templates/.
