SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside Slammers took care of business at home.

The Slammers captured the Week 5 tournament in the Volleyball P.E.I. 16/18U Spring League at Three Oaks Senior High School on Wednesday.

The Slammers posted a perfect 5-0 record in the round robin, and right behind them were the Charlottetown Capitals at 4-1.

The Slammers went on to defeat the Capitals 25-15 in the goldmedal match. Meanwhile, the Aces pulled off a 17-16 win against Red Mudd in an extremely close bronze-medal match that came down to one final point.

“It was great to have a mixed team (Aces) with some players from the Capitals and Reed Mudd clubs,” explained Capitals head coach Max Arsenault. “They were able to compete, and it was nice to see the coaches for both clubs helping out to assist any players on the Aces, regardless of their original club.

League play resumes in Charlottetown on Wednesday, May 3.
