ABERNETHY Rev James C

-

Many on P.E.I. were saddened by the recent passing of Rev James “Jim” Abernethy who died in his home in Burghead, Scotland, on Friday April 14th. Jim was predeceased by his dearly beloved wife

Anne in 2013. Jim was formerly minister of the Western charge of the Free Church of Scotland on Prince Edward Island for almost 16 years. He is survived by his children, Eilidh and Andrew and granddaughter, Lucy. Jim was widely known to many on P.E.I. through his preaching and was regarded by many who heard him as a passionate and uncompromising preacher of the Gospel. His passion for souls went beyond the pulpit, visiting tirelessly, and leaving a lasting mark in many lives through personal contact. A memorial fund has been set up in Jim’s honor to sponsor disadvantaged children to attend the children’s camp which Jim founded in 1984. If any wished to contribute, you can make it payable to The Free Church Youth Camp (In memory Rev James C Abernethy) and mail to 7850 Rte 19 Argyle Shore, Bonshaw COA-1C0.
