Ceilidh in the City July 5 is Cana­dian Coun­try Clas­sics

To cel­e­brate Canada’s 150th birth­day, Ceilidh in the City has cre­ated a sum­mer sea­son that cel­e­brates all things Cana­dian, in­clud­ing its di­verse mu­sic her­itage.

The July 5 ceilidh will show­case Cana­dian coun­try mu­sic with spe­cial guests Larry Camp­bell and Colleen MacPhee.

Camp­bell has been per­form­ing all across P.E.I. with groups like Coun­try Leg­ends “Men of the Cen­tury” where he por­trays the mu­sic of Gene Wat­son. Camp­bell, who plays guitar and har­mon­ica, also plays in a trio with Roy McCaull and Mar­cella Richard. Show time is 7:30 p.m.

MacPhee has also per­formed on the Is­land for many years. She re­cently rose to the fore­front by por­tray­ing the mu­sic of Rita MacNeil in the pop­u­lar show, Lady Singers Of Our Cen­tury.

Camp­bell and MacPhee will join the weekly hosts of the ceilidh, Ken­dall Docherty, Peter Burke, Brian Knox and Heartz God­kin, for a night of mu­sic.

The show will be held at the Blan­chard Fam­ily Cen­tre, 7 Pond St., Charlottetown, with doors open­ing at 6:30 p.m. for gen­eral ad­mis­sion. There will be a can­teen ser­vice, pro­vided by the Holy Redeemer cater­ing staff, as well as a 50/50 draw, which will be sup­port­ing a va­ri­ety of Is­land char­i­ties.
