Bu­rakovsky signs $6M, 2-year deal with Cap­i­tals

Bill and Pete, for team­ster Cory Pol­lock from Mt. Her­bert had the win­ning pull in the heavy divi­sion Sun­day at the Tig­nish Ir­ish Moss Fes­ti­val’s Horse Pull com­pe­ti­tion.

The pull at­tracted 15 teams, in­clud­ing five in the light and three in the medium divi­sion.

Cory Steeves won both the light and medium di­vi­sions with his teams.

Brady Do­iron and Gary Mathe­son were sec­ond and third in the light and Lee Knox and Brent Poirier had sec­ond and third place fin­ishes re­spec­tively in the medium divi­sion.

Jeff Pol­lock and Kyle Steeves placed sec­ond and third in the heavy divi­sion.

Awards for best team­sters went to Brady Do­iron, Lee Knox and Cory Pol­lock. AR­LING­TON, Va. — Right winger An­dre Bu­rakovsky and the Wash­ing­ton Cap­i­tals have agreed to a $6 mil­lion, two-year con­tract. The team an­nounced the deal with the re­stricted free agent on Tues­day. The 22-year-old Bu­rakovsky had 12 goals and 23 as­sists in 64 games for Wash­ing­ton last sea­son, his third in the NHL.

Sharks sign for­ward Bran­don Bol­lig to 1-year deal

SAN JOSE, Calif. — The San Jose Sharks have signed free-agent for­ward Bran­don Bol­lig to a one-year con­tract.

Gen­eral man­ager Doug Wil­son an­nounced the deal Tues­day, adding a player known for his tough­ness.
