As­sault leads to month-long sen­tence

A 62-year-old man was sen­tenced to 30 days in jail for com­mon as­sault. James (Jimmy) Charles Doyle pleaded guilty to the of­fence re­sult­ing from an in­ci­dent on March 3.

The lob­ster fish­er­man will also spend 18 months on pro­ba­tion.

Chief Pro­vin­cial Court Judge Nancy Orr or­dered Doyle to re­frain from hav­ing any con­tact with the victim. Doyle must also write a let­ter of apol­ogy to the victim.
