Cana­di­ens sign Alex Galchenyuk to three-year con­tract, avoid ar­bi­tra­tion

Alex Galchenyuk avoided ar­bi­tra­tion by sign­ing a three-year con­tract with the Mon­treal Cana­di­ens on Wed­nes­day.

The deal is re­port­edly worth nearly US$4.9 mil­lion per sea­son.

The 23-year-old Galchenyuk, who was a re­stricted free agent, was drafted third over­all by Mon­treal in 2012.

He had 17 goals and 27 as­sists in 61 games last sea­son and added three as­sists in six play­off games af­ter scor­ing 30 goals in the pre­vi­ous cam­paign.

The Amer­i­can-born for­ward has 89 goals and 204 points in 336 ca­reer NHL games.
