Annual Government House garden party is July 12
Lt.-Gov. Frank Lewis and his wife, Dorothy Lewis, are inviting the public to their sixth annual Government House garden party.
The Lewises will greet Island residents and visitors from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday. There is no dress code but visitors are encouraged to dress colourfully for the occasion.
The annual tradition is held on the grounds of Fanningbank at the edge of Victoria Park, 1 Terry Fox Dr.
Extra seating and tents will be set out for the afternoon. Light refreshments will be available and the Queen’s County Fiddlers will provide the music.
Other than the day of the garden party, Government House is open for free, bilingual guided tours until the end of August, Monday to Friday, with tours every half hour starting at 10 a.m. and continuing until 3:30 p.m. without appointment. Advance notice of group larger than 10 people is appreciated. Other times for group tours can be arranged by appointment.
Visitors to Government House are reminded that parking is limited at all times and restricted on the day of the garden party to those requiring mobility assistance.
