P.E.I. squads draw with New­found­land and Labrador in un­der-13, un­der-14 At­lantic girls soc­cer Thurs­day in Char­lot­te­town

Nei­ther P.E.I. squad at the un­der-13 and un­der-14 girls At­lantic cham­pi­onships could find the win­ning goal Thurs­day as both tied New­found­land and Labrador on the tour­na­ment’s open­ing day in Char­lot­te­town.

The un­der-13s set­tled for a 1-1 draw on a goal by Ly­dia Hamill with four min­utes left in the first half to even things. Jessie Ball net­ted the N.L. marker with six min­utes led tin the half.

Mean­while the un­der-14s also fin­ished with a 1-1 re­sult.

Reese Kelly had P.E.I.’s goal to tie things 1-1 in the se­cond half after Bri­anna Gil­more scored for N.L. with 15 min­utes re­main­ing in the game. The teams were 0-0 at half­time.

Both Is­land teams, each 0-01, face Nova Sco­tia on Fri­day at UPEI.

The un­der-13 game is at 10 a.m. against a 0-0-1 N.S. group, the un­der-14 con­test is 4 p.m. Nova Sco­tia is 1-0 in that di­vi­sion.

In the day’s other games, New Brunswick tied Nova Sco­tia 2-2 in un­der-13 ac­tion, while N.S. shutout N.B. 4-0 in un­der-14 play.

Fri­day’s other matchups have N.B. fac­ing N.L. at noon in un­der-13 and at 2 p.m. in un­der14.
