Fields set for Gover­nor’s Plate elim­i­na­tions

The fields are set for the Gover­nor’s Plate elim­i­na­tions.

The two $5,000 races will be the fi­nal two events on a 12dash pro­gram at Red Shores at Sum­mer­side Race­way on Sun­day af­ter­noon. Post time for the open­ing card of Gover­nor’s Plate Week har­ness rac­ing is set for 1 p.m.

The top four fin­ish­ers from each elim­i­na­tion, which both fea­ture eight en­tries, will ad­vance to the $22,000 Gover­nor’s Plate fi­nal, pre­sented by Sum­mer­side Chrysler Dodge, on Satur­day, July 15.

For­ever Par­adise and driver Adam Merner will have the rail in the first elim­i­na­tion – Race 11. Merner will also drive Ad­kins Hanover from the rail in Race 12.

YS Lo­tus set the cur­rent Sum­mer­side Race­way track pac­ing record of 1:51.4 in last year’s 48th run­ning of the Gover­nor’s Plate fi­nal.
