P.E.I. photo contest deadline July 28
Islanders are encouraged to grab their cameras and spend the next several weeks showcasing the natural beauty inspired by the province’s agriculture and fisheries industries.
The Celebrate P.E.I. Agriculture and Fisheries photo contest allows shutterbugs capture Prince Edward Island’s lush rolling hills, roadside market stands, busy harbours and farm animals big and small. Photos can be entered under seven different categories until July 28 at www.princeedwardisland.ca/ agri-photocontest.
“Prince Edward Island’s agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries industries are the economic backbone of many communities and also contribute tremendously to the stunning landscape of our province,” said Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Alan McIsaac. “I encourage all Islanders to get out, enjoy the beautiful scenery of our province and participate in our photo contest.”
The seven entry categories include farmscapes, commercial fisheries and aquaculture, celebrating farm and fishing families, the next generation of farmers and fisheries, fresh from the land and/or sea, animals of agriculture and the wild side. Finalists will be showcased at the Celebrate P.E.I. Agriculture and Fisheries Old Home Week event.
Category winners will be presented with their framed images after Old Home Week and receive a $50 Farmer’s Market Voucher.
A special People’s Choice category winner will be selected by popular vote from the category winners during Old Home Week 2017 and will receive a grand prize valued at $500. The 2016 People’s Choice winner was submitted by Jennifer Trainor.
