P.E.I. photo con­test dead­line July 28

Is­lan­ders are en­cour­aged to grab their cam­eras and spend the next sev­eral weeks show­cas­ing the nat­u­ral beauty in­spired by the province’s agri­cul­ture and fish­eries in­dus­tries.

The Cel­e­brate P.E.I. Agri­cul­ture and Fish­eries photo con­test al­lows shut­ter­bugs cap­ture Prince Ed­ward Is­land’s lush rolling hills, road­side mar­ket stands, busy har­bours and farm an­i­mals big and small. Pho­tos can be en­tered un­der seven dif­fer­ent cat­e­gories un­til July 28 at www.princeed­wardis­land.ca/ agri-pho­to­con­test.

“Prince Ed­ward Is­land’s agri­cul­ture, aqua­cul­ture and fish­eries in­dus­tries are the eco­nomic back­bone of many com­mu­ni­ties and also con­trib­ute tremen­dously to the stun­ning land­scape of our province,” said Agri­cul­ture and Fish­eries Min­is­ter Alan McIsaac. “I en­cour­age all Is­lan­ders to get out, en­joy the beau­ti­ful scenery of our province and par­tic­i­pate in our photo con­test.”

The seven en­try cat­e­gories in­clude farm­scapes, com­mer­cial fish­eries and aqua­cul­ture, cel­e­brat­ing farm and fish­ing fam­i­lies, the next gen­er­a­tion of farm­ers and fish­eries, fresh from the land and/or sea, an­i­mals of agri­cul­ture and the wild side. Fi­nal­ists will be show­cased at the Cel­e­brate P.E.I. Agri­cul­ture and Fish­eries Old Home Week event.

Cat­e­gory win­ners will be pre­sented with their framed im­ages af­ter Old Home Week and re­ceive a $50 Farmer’s Mar­ket Voucher.

A spe­cial Peo­ple’s Choice cat­e­gory win­ner will be se­lected by pop­u­lar vote from the cat­e­gory win­ners dur­ing Old Home Week 2017 and will re­ceive a grand prize val­ued at $500. The 2016 Peo­ple’s Choice win­ner was sub­mit­ted by Jen­nifer Trainor.
