Dino Dunsford, Gary Chip­man at New Lon­don Pig & Whis­tle

Sea­son 4 of the Pig & Whis­tle dance be­gins at the New Lon­don Com­mu­nity Com­plex on Thurs­day, July 13.

This sum­mer­time dance se­ries fea­tures rock and cov­ers from the 1950s and 1960s per­formed by the Gary Chip­man Band ev­ery Thurs­day, 8-11 p.m.

This band is known for its lively nos­tal­gic dances and the abil­ity to keep the dance floor full all night long.

Mem­bers of the band are Chip­man, Bob Gagnon, Blair Cough­lin, Ge­orge MacPhee, Or­rin Baird and Alan “Postie” Con­nolly.

A new ad­di­tion to the dance se­ries this year will be a short, old-time fid­dle square set, and no square danc­ing ex­pe­ri­ence is re­quired. Spe­cial guest vo­cal­ist for the first dance will be Dino Dunsford.

“As long as we can keep play­ing mu­sic, we want to make sure that the rock ’n’ roll mu­sic of the old days lives on,” says Chip­man, who is the host for the evening. “Our hope is that on July 13th that the spirit of the old days will be on the dance floor.”
