Dino Dunsford, Gary Chipman at New London Pig & Whistle

-

Season 4 of the Pig & Whistle dance begins at the New London Community Complex on Thursday, July 13.

This summertime dance series features rock and covers from the 1950s and 1960s performed by the Gary Chipman Band every Thursday, 8-11 p.m.

This band is known for its lively nostalgic dances and the ability to keep the dance floor full all night long.

Members of the band are Chipman, Bob Gagnon, Blair Coughlin, George MacPhee, Orrin Baird and Alan “Postie” Connolly.

A new addition to the dance series this year will be a short, old-time fiddle square set, and no square dancing experience is required. Special guest vocalist for the first dance will be Dino Dunsford.

“As long as we can keep playing music, we want to make sure that the rock ’n’ roll music of the old days lives on,” says Chipman, who is the host for the evening. “Our hope is that on July 13th that the spirit of the old days will be on the dance floor.”

This event supports cystic fibrosis and the community complex. All those 19 years and up are welcome. The complex is located at 10227 Route 6. For more information, call 902-314-1865 or visit www.peiceilidhs.com.
