Hal­i­fax/Stel­lar­ton - A. Gor­don Mac­Neill, age 82, of Hal­i­fax and for­merly of Stel­lar­ton, passed away Mon­day, July 10, 2017 in Hal­i­fax. A na­tive of Mon­tague, PEI and only child of the late Arthur and Al­berta (Rose) Mac­Neill, he grad­u­ated from Prince of Wales Col­lege class of 1954 and later that year joined CIBC. He worked with the bank in all 4 At­lantic Prov­inces and served as De­part­ment Head of the Au­dit/ In­spec­tion and later the Credit De­part­ments at the At­lantic Re­gional Of­fice as well as Man­ager of the New Glas­gow and the Char­lot­te­town branches from where he re­tired in 1990 af­ter 36 years of ser­vice. He then took up res­i­dence in Stel­lar­ton and was ac­tive in First Pres­by­te­rian Church in New Glas­gow serv­ing as Elder and Trustee as well as Trea­surer of the Pres­by­te­rian Church Camp Ged­die for 10 years. He was a for­mer mem­ber of Kins­men, Ro­tary and lastly the Gyro Club of New Glas­gow, serv­ing as Trea­surer for 20 years. In re­tire­ment, he en­joyed golf as a mem­ber of the Aber­crom­bie Coun­try Club. He was pre­de­ceased by his best friend and wife of 50 years Olla (John­ston); and is sur­vived by his chil­dren, daugh­ter, Nancy Camp­bell, Dart­mouth and her chil­dren, Scott, Ni­cholas and Alexa; son, John (Michelle), Dart­mouth, and his chil­dren, Jen­nifer and Jes­sica; step grand­son, Steven; sis­ters-in-law: Mar­garet (Jim) Del­garno, Kelowna; Eve­lyn, Hal­i­fax; Shirley (the late Len) McIn­tosh, Burnaby; Bev­er­ley (Bryan) Wil­liams, Bar­ney’s River Sta­tion; Mar­ion (Greg) Fraser, Hal­i­fax; brothers-in­law: Robert (Eleanor), New Glas­gow; Hec­tor (Ann), Hal­i­fax. Cre­ma­tion has taken place un­der the di­rec­tion of the R.H. Porter Fu­neral Home, 55 Al­mont Ave., New Glas­gow, with vis­i­ta­tion 7-9 pm Thurs­day. Me­mo­rial ser­vice 11 am Fri­day in First Pres­by­te­rian Church, New Glas­gow, Rev. Dr. Glen Mathe­son of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial to fol­low in Ken­zieville Ceme­tery. Fam­ily flow­ers only please.
