Brew­ers strike late

The North­side Gill Con­struc­tion Brew­ers scored six un­earned runs in the top of the fifth to break open a score­less game and went on to beat the Cardi­gan Clip­pers 12-1 Wed­nes­day night.

Jay­den Ma­cLean pitched a com­plete game three-hit­ter to earn the Kings County Base­ball League win for the Brew Crew.

Spencer Smith led the Brew­ers at the plate go­ing 3-for-5 with a triple. Jamie Arse­nault had two hits and three RBI and Jed MacEwen had two hits and two RBI for the Brew­ers.

Quinn Hughes suf­fered the loss for the Clip­pers with re­lief from Dar­ion John­son and Colin Mac­In­tyre. Jed Walsh had a dou­ble and RBI to lead the Clip­per bats.

Ath­let­ics 6, Ex­pos 0

The Al­ley Strat­ford Ath­let­ics de­feated the Char­lot­te­town Ex­pos 6-0.

Dan O’Shea threw a fourhit­ter with 12 strike­outs for the win. Jeremy Keoughan took the loss with re­lief com­ing from Peter Ma­cAuley.

Corey Dougay had three hits and drove in two runs to lead the Ath­let­ics of­fence while Ryne MacIsaac chipped in two hits.

Jor­dan Duffy and Brad Mullen had hits for the Ex­pos.

The Brew­ers and Ath­let­ics have a makeup game in Strat­ford Fri­day at 6:30 p.m.

Che­vies 8, Jays 7

Darcy Af­fleck stroked a tworun sin­gle in the sixth in­ning to erase a 7-6 deficit and lift the Morell Che­vies to an 8-7 win over the Char­lot­te­town Jays at Memo­rial Field.

Lo­gan Gal­lant pitched two score­less in­nings in re­lief of starter Andrew O’Shea to pick up the win, while John Burke was tagged with the loss in re­lief of Jays starter Calvin Larkin.

Desi Doyle was 3-for-4 with three RBI to pace the Che­vies (7-3) while Stephen O’Shea added a pair of hits.

Thane Arse­nault, Jamie Smith and Chad MacKay all had two hits to lead the Jays.
