Sunday Night Shenanigans in York Community Centre
Sunday Night Shenanigans, hosted by Judy MacLean at York Community Centre Sunday at 7 p.m., will feature internationally known recording artist Kelley Mooney.
Born in Iona, P.E.I., Mooney has been singing since she was a young girl and has continued to perform both locally and internationally. She is best known for her rendition of Leonard Cohen’s spiritual lyrical adaptation of “Hallelujah”, which has become an internet sensation with more than 13 milllion hits on Youtube and Godtube.
Mooney released an awardwinning CD in 2011, which garnered her the 2012 Music P.E.I. recording of the year. Later, she released an album that gained her an ECMA nomination for “Still.” She continues to perform as lead singer for her band called Watertown.
Also on the bill is Island vocalist Olivia Barnes, who studies voice at University of Montreal and will be joined onstage by her father, Tom Barnes. For fiddle fans, Buddy Longaphee will perform some lively jigs, and reels accompanied by Duncan Matheson on keyboards. They will provide some lively tunes for The Judy MacLean Dancers. The evening includes a 50/50 draw, Vesey’s Seeds prize, light lunch.
