Ivan and Vi­vian Hicks are guests at Lot 7 ceilidh

Mu­si­cians pre­serve and pro­mote old-time fid­dling in North Amer­ica

Two per­for­mances fea­tur­ing Ivan and Vi­vian Hicks from New Brunswick will be pre­sented Thurs­day and Fri­day, July 20-21, as part of this year’s Lot 7 Ceilidh sea­son

Nor­mally, the ceilidhs run ev­ery Thurs­day be­gin­ning at 7:30 p.m. at St. Marks Hall in Bur­ton. How­ever, an ex­tra show has been added for this com­ing week to al­low more fans to en­joy the mu­sic of th­ese per­form­ers who are dis­tin­guished for their con­tri­bu­tion to pre­serve and pro­mote old-time fid­dling through­out North Amer­ica.

Their mu­sic has roots steeped in tra­di­tion and their ap­proach to get­ting it into the hearts and minds of peo­ple is mod­ern and in­no­va­tive. Ivan is a mem­ber of the North Amer­i­can Fid­dlers Hall of Fame. He is an ac­com­plished com­poser, record­ing artist, per­former and a lively am­bas­sador for At­lantic Canada’s her­itage.

Ivan and Vi­vian truly be­lieve that the gift of mu­sic is to be shared and that shows in each of their per­for­mances. They con­tinue to per­form at nu­mer­ous fid­dling events and has judged many fid­dling con­tests through­out Canada. He is a con­sul­tant for var­i­ous as­pects of the mu­sic busi­ness and is an or­ga­nizer and pro­moter of con­certs and tours. Within his own com­mu­nity he was a co-founder of the Riverview Arts Cen­tre.

Tick­ets for their two con­certs can be pre­ar­ranged by phon­ing 902-859-2803 or 902-393-8528. Ad­mis­sion will also be avail­able at the door on each evening, sub­ject to avail­abil­ity.

The ceilidhs will also fea­ture an Ir­ish lunch dur­ing in­ter­mis­sion, as well as a door prize and a 50/50 and a gift for the per­son who trav­elled the far­thest.
