Acadian meal and soirée with P.E.I.’s Michael Pendergast
Event set for July 21 at the Farmers’ Bank of Rustico and Doucet house
As part of Acadian Days Festival at the Farmers’ Bank of Rustico and Doucet House museums, an evening of food is planned for Friday, July 21.
From 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., chef Robert Pendergast will prepare a traditional Acadian meal at the Doucet House’s outdoor clay bake oven. He will also entertain with stories and music while he bakes. Pre-registration is requested. This event will be happening rain or shine.
The soirée will begin at 7:30 p.m. with Michael Pendergast, also known as “the Music Man”. With a combined French and Irish background, Michael grew up in a family that enjoyed music. He bought his first button accordion at a flea market when he was going to university and has acquired many more over the years. He appeals to audiences of all ages with his storytelling, P.E.I. songs, songs of the sea, jigs, reels and audience participation.
The museums are located at 2188 Church Rd., Route 243 off Route 6, in Rustico. In addition, the Farmers’ Bank of Rustico is wheelchair accessible and airconditioned.
