Aca­dian meal and soirée with P.E.I.’s Michael Pen­der­gast

Event set for July 21 at the Farm­ers’ Bank of Rus­tico and Doucet house

As part of Aca­dian Days Fes­ti­val at the Farm­ers’ Bank of Rus­tico and Doucet House mu­se­ums, an evening of food is planned for Fri­day, July 21.

From 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., chef Robert Pen­der­gast will pre­pare a tra­di­tional Aca­dian meal at the Doucet House’s out­door clay bake oven. He will also en­ter­tain with sto­ries and mu­sic while he bakes. Pre-reg­is­tra­tion is re­quested. This event will be hap­pen­ing rain or shine.

The soirée will be­gin at 7:30 p.m. with Michael Pen­der­gast, also known as “the Mu­sic Man”. With a com­bined French and Ir­ish back­ground, Michael grew up in a fam­ily that en­joyed mu­sic. He bought his first but­ton ac­cor­dion at a flea mar­ket when he was go­ing to univer­sity and has ac­quired many more over the years. He ap­peals to au­di­ences of all ages with his sto­ry­telling, P.E.I. songs, songs of the sea, jigs, reels and au­di­ence par­tic­i­pa­tion.

The mu­se­ums are lo­cated at 2188 Church Rd., Route 243 off Route 6, in Rus­tico. In ad­di­tion, the Farm­ers’ Bank of Rus­tico is wheel­chair ac­ces­si­ble and air­con­di­tioned.
