Souris man al­legedly as­saults friends with base­ball bat

SOURIS — A 29-year-old man from Souris faces charges of as­sault with a base­ball bat dur­ing a break and en­ter in that com­mu­nity. Kings Dis­trict RCMP re­sponded to a 911 call from the Souris res­i­dence in the early morn­ing hours of Thurs­day.

Of­fi­cers ar­rested and charged the man at the scene, and he was held in cus­tody overnight for a court ap­pear­ance at a later date.

The vic­tims of the al­leged as­sault, who po­lice say were known to the ac­cused, were treated at the scene by Is­land EMS for mi­nor in­juries. The RCMP did not spec­ify how many vic­tims were al­legedly as­saulted.

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion is on­go­ing.
