The fu­neral for the late Earl Ge­orge Matthews beloved hus­band to, Ma­bel Mary (nee McCue) Matthews of Al­ber­ton, was held on Fri­day July 14, 2017 from the E. Ger­ald Rooney Memo­rial Chapel Al­ber­ton where fu­neral ser­vice was con­ducted at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. Robert Lock­hart who brought words of com­fort to the fam­ily. The open­ing prayer and words of Re­mem­brance were given by the Rev. Ross Mor­ri­son. The Eu­logy was de­liv­ered by grand­son Darcy Rayner. The 23 psalm was ad­dressed by daugh­ter, Shel­ley Pen­ner. Mark 4:1-9 was ad­dressed by son in law, Carl Richards. The mes­sage “The Sower” was de­liv­ered by Rev. Robert Lock­hart. The choir led in the singing of the hymns, How Great Thou Art and Amaz­ing Grace. The or­gan­ist was David Bar­bour. The re­ces­sional was a CD by Vince Gill “Go Rest High on that Moun­tain” Ev­ery­one present for the fu­neral ser­vice was con­sid­ered to be Hon­orary pall­bear­ers. The ac­tive pall­bear­ers were Sons Ge­orge Matthews Jamie \Matthews, and grand­sons, Austin Matthews, Mitchell Matthews, Tyler Matthews Matthew McCormick. The flower bear­ers were grand­daugh­ters, Made­lyn Matthews, Jill Matthews, Tonya Matthews, Layla Matthews. In­ter­ment was in the Elms­dale United Church Ceme­tery with Rev. Ross Mor­ri­son and Rev. Robert Lock­hart of­fi­ci­at­ing.
