Seven-year-old girl dies from injuries in farm tractor accident
A seven-year-old Nova Scotia girl who was injured in a farm accident July 19 has died, RCMP said.
“She succumbed to her injuries earlier this evening.”
RCMP acknowledged the assistance of the many emergency workers and volunteers who were involved in the response to the tragedy.
“Our thoughts are with the families involved during what must be an extremely difficult time,” said Const. Jennifer Clarke in a media release.
The girl was hit by the mower behind a tractor in a field in Clementsville. She suffered a severed leg and an injured arm and was airlifted to hospital in Halifax.
RCMP from Annapolis and Digby counties were on the scene of the accident on Clementsvale Road along with Emergency Health Services and firefighters.
An area resident said the girl was visiting and believes her grandmother called 911.
“The whole community is saddened by it all,” the resident said earlier in the week.
Life Flight helicopter landed on a helipad at the causeway on the tidal power dam in Annapolis Royal. Fire trucks closed off the causeway to traffic while the girl was brought to the location at arout 9:15 p.m.
