Seven-year-old girl dies from in­juries in farm trac­tor ac­ci­dent

A seven-year-old Nova Sco­tia girl who was in­jured in a farm ac­ci­dent July 19 has died, RCMP said.

“She suc­cumbed to her in­juries ear­lier this evening.”

RCMP ac­knowl­edged the as­sis­tance of the many emer­gency work­ers and vol­un­teers who were in­volved in the re­sponse to the tragedy.

“Our thoughts are with the fam­i­lies in­volved dur­ing what must be an ex­tremely dif­fi­cult time,” said Const. Jen­nifer Clarke in a me­dia re­lease.

The girl was hit by the mower be­hind a trac­tor in a field in Cle­mentsville. She suf­fered a sev­ered leg and an in­jured arm and was air­lifted to hos­pi­tal in Hal­i­fax.

RCMP from An­napo­lis and Digby coun­ties were on the scene of the ac­ci­dent on Clementsvale Road along with Emer­gency Health Ser­vices and fire­fight­ers.

An area res­i­dent said the girl was vis­it­ing and be­lieves her grand­mother called 911.

“The whole com­mu­nity is sad­dened by it all,” the res­i­dent said ear­lier in the week.

Life Flight he­li­copter landed on a he­li­pad at the cause­way on the tidal power dam in An­napo­lis Royal. Fire trucks closed off the cause­way to traf­fic while the girl was brought to the lo­ca­tion at arout 9:15 p.m.
