The 23rd edition of the Rendez-vous Rustico festival will be marked by a partnership with the Fédération culturelle de l’Île-duPrince-Édouard (FCIPE).

This Francophone organization, whose goal is to ensure and sustain the cultural and artistic evolution of the Acadian and Francophone community of Prince Edward Island, will bring its «Carnaval en promenade»: a tour of participatory activities to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation.

«This show that will move from region to region will be the unmissable event of summer 2017. We are therefore lucky to be able to incorporate this carnival in our festival!» says Andréa Deveau, executive director of the Conseil acadien de Rustico (CaR).

Historically, when the Fathers of Confederation met in Charlottetown in 1864 to form our country, the island community gathered around a carnival. It is with this idea that the FCIPE has created this project to promote and celebrate together the cultural diversity of Canada in 2017 through a carnival that combines dance, music, traditions and circus arts.

Lennie Gallant will offer a unique show with many surprises Sunday evening at St. Augustine›s Church. A beloved child of Rustico and winner of the 2017 ECMA Fans’ Choice Entertainer of the year, Gallant would not miss this concert.

«For me, Rendez-vous Rustico is always the most fun show of the year!» he saidin 2016.

For more than 20 years, Gallant has gained loyalty from his fans who come back year after year to watch him sing on the stage of the oldest wooden church on the Island.

Since 1994, the Rendez-vous Rustico festival has touched the souls of islanders and visitors alike. In creating this festival, Maude Desjardins, then president of the Acadian Council of Rustico, wanted to highlight Acadian and francophone culture and joy. It is in this dynamic that the Conseil Acadien de Rustico, a not-forprofit organization representing the Acadians, Francophones and Francophiles of Grand-Rustico coordinates the planning and implementation of this event.

The detailed program of the festival will be available in the coming weeks on www.rendezvousrustico.com and Facebook @rdvrustico
