Leave sleeping dogs lie

The Guardian (Charlottetown) - - EDITORIAL -

I write today in response to a letter on Tuesday, July 18, by Earl Lockerby, “A Slippery Slope.”

I agree with his letter 100 per cent and, although I may not have all the history to quote behind me, I can easily see, and so should others, that he makes some very valid points.

We cannot start renaming or deleting names of places, churches, schools and entire communities because of history. We need to accept our history, whatever it is or was, and move on with dignity.

Like Earl says, history is as it is, or let’s leave sleeping dogs lie. Kathy Birt, Mount Stewart
