Summerside author Susan Rodgers releases summer beach read

The Guardian (Charlottetown) - - COMMUNITY/ENTERTAINMENT -

As readers of her Drifters series of books know, Susan Rodgers loves to spend the summers at Twin Shores Campground in Darnley.

Last summer, the Summerside author decided it would be fun to set an entire story at her own much-loved campground.

Coming off a volunteer stint at the 2016 Cavendish Beach Music Festival, Rodgers thought, “Wouldn’t it be fun if a famous country singer hid out at Twin Shores for the summer?”

Twin Shores will never be the same — although in the books, the campground goes by the fictional name Castle Beach, and famous singer Dallas White is snuggled into a site overlooking the beach.

His love interest, single mom Cassie Keough, is living on the bay side in a luxurious fifth wheel.

“Our fifth wheel is the oldest and smallest of the seasonals, so I decided to live vicariously through Cassie,” says Rodgers about her characters.

“She’s got the luxury trailer I’d like to have. Dallas, on the other hand, is living in a tent, so it’s all good, as they say. It balances out.”

Rodgers also just released three new books in the Drifters series: “The Light In Me,” “When The West Wind Moves” and “Listen To The River.” All are available as e-books and some are also available in print at Island bookstores.

The newest releases are available in print via Rodgers (email fatcat@pei.sympatico.ca or text 902-439-8362). Rodgers also has a table at the Summerside Farmers’ Market each Saturday, and print books can also be purchased through Amazon and Indigo and via www.susanrodgersauthor.com.
