The July 26 edition of the Ceilidh in the City will feature a night of traditional East Coast music with special guests, the Long River Players.

The group of friends and neighbours includes Pete Blanding, Gayle Murphy, Gary Arsenault and Cindy Blanding. They are best known for their popular ceilidhs at the Murray Centre in Kensington for the past 13 years.

The band’s vocal harmonies and use of fiddle, whistle, guitar, mandolin, banjo and keyboard add to the audience’s enjoyment of their music, which ranges from Celtic and Maritime to roots/traditional songs and tunes with lots of humour thrown in along the way.

The Long River Players will be joining the hosts of the ceilidh, Kendall Docherty, Peter Burke, Heartz Godkin and Brian Knox, for what promises to be a true East Coast kitchen party.

The show will get underway at 7:30 p.m. at the Jack Blanchard Family Centre, 7 Pond St. in Charlottetown. Tickets are at the door, which opens at 6:30 p.m. for general admission.

There will be a canteen service with a selection of freshly baked pies and other snacks and beverages. There will also be a 50/50 draw in support of various Island charities through the Ceilidh Gives Back Fund.
