Persaud, Chandler to perform at the Trailside Cafe tonight

The Guardian (Charlottetown) - - COMMUNITY/ENTERTAINMENT -

Performing artists Lydia Persaud and Jill Chandler will play the Trailside Music Cafe’ & Inn this evening in

Mount Stewart.

Hailing from Toronto, Persaud combines the rich sounds of soul, jazz and R&B, drawing her influences from Stevie Wonder, Gretchen Parlato and Jill Scott.

She won the Oscar Peterson award in 2013, the first female recipient from Humber College.

Chandler is an Island-born singer-songwriter. Her songs reflect her journey through grief after losing her husband died from cancer in 2013. Chandler sang professionally in Charlottetown and Halifax, but left music behind when she became a mom. She has returned to songwriting as a way of healing.

Tickets are available at www. trailside.ca, Back Alley Music or 902-394-3626. Doors and kitchen are open at 6:30 p.m. with music at 8 p.m.
