Dead fish count reaches 67

Provin­cial per­son­nel and lo­cal wa­ter­shed work­ers col­lected 67 dead trout from a small brook in Campbellton Sun­day and Mon­day.

An in­ves­ti­ga­tion was launched af­ter a re­port of dead fish be­ing found near a bridge along the Cough­lin Road in the West Prince com­mu­nity on Sun­day morn­ing.

All of the dead fish were small, un­der 23 cen­time­ters, a spokesman with the De­part­ment of En­vi­ron­ment con­firmed Tues­day. In­ves­ti­ga­tors did find live fish fur­ther down­stream where the small brook en­ters a slightly larger brook.
