Chief Supt. Jen­nifer Ebert will be the force’s next com­mand­ing of­fi­cer in P.E.I.

The Moun­tie in charge of the ma­jor crimes branch of Saskatchewan’s RCMP divi­sion will be the force’s new com­mand­ing of­fi­cer in P.E.I.

Chief Supt. Jen­nifer Ebert re­places for­mer Chief Supt. Joanne Crampton, who ac­cepted a po­si­tion in Ot­tawa with fed­eral polic­ing crim­i­nal op­er­a­tions.

Pre­mier Wade MacLauch­lan con­grat­u­lated Ebert on her pro­mo­tion.

“I am proud to have the RCMP as a strong polic­ing part­ner and I look for­ward to con­tin­u­ing this col­lab­o­ra­tion to en­sure Is­landers main­tain a high de­gree of con­fi­dence in our po­lice ser­vices and in our jus­tice sys­tem,” he said.

Ebert joined the RCMP in 1997.

While work­ing in Wood Buf­falo, Alta., where she was posted in 2011, Ebert was des­ig­nated as an ac­cred­ited team com­man­der and be­came the team leader of the se­ri­ous crimes and do­mes­tic vi­o­lence units.

She be­came of­fi­cer in charge of the Saskatchewan ma­jor crimes branch in 2014.
