Dick­son tosses two-hit­ter

Iron­men de­feat Is­lan­ders in low-scor­ing game

Ron­nie Dick­son pitched a gem for the Chatham Iron­men on Thurs­day night.

Dick­son fired a two-hit­ter, walked just one bat­ter and struck out seven in lead­ing the Iron­men to a 3-0 vic­tory over the vis­it­ing Char­lot­te­town Is­lan­ders in New Brunswick Se­nior Base­ball League play.

Grant Grady and Tay­lor Larkin recorded the Is­lan­ders’ hits while Jesse Mac­In­tyre drew the free pass.

The Iron­men, led by Orry Cook’s 4-for-4 bat­ting sum­mary, scored sin­gle runs in the first, third and sixth in­nings. Cook also scored a run and drove in one while Jeff Watkin had a 2-for-3 sum­mary, with a home run.

Ja­cob Beck went the dis­tance on the hill for the Is­lan­ders. His line read three earned runs, nine hits, three walks and four strike­outs.

The Iron­men im­proved to 14-9 (won-lost) while the Is­lan­ders dropped to 8-17.

Char­lot­te­town hosts the Fred­er­ic­ton Roy­als in a dou­ble­header at Memo­rial Field on Satur­day. The first game is sched­uled to start at 2 p.m.
