The first Canada Games took place in Fe­bru­ary 1967 in Que­bec City. This event saw 1,800 ath­letes from 10 prov­inces and two ter­ri­to­ries gath­er­ing to com­pete in 15 sport­ing events. Fea­tur­ing 16 sports, over 250 events and a ma­jor cul­tural fes­ti­val, the 2017 Canada Games will wel­come over 4,000 ath­letes and coaches.

The Canada Games are held ev­ery two years, al­ter­nat­ing be­tween sum­mer and win­ter.

The 2017 Games are the 50th an­niver­sary of the first Games and are tak­ing place in Canada’s 150th year of con­fed­er­a­tion.

Ni­ibin is the of­fi­cial mas­cot for the 2017 Games.
