Housing starts up
P.E.I.’s housing market is seeing a building boom.
The latest report from the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation shows the number of single-family homes built in P.E.I. in the first half of the year was up by 97 per cent compared to the same time in 2016.
That report’s seasonally adjusted housing start data show the number of new single-detached houses did drop by 29 per cent in June compared to the previous month.
All other housing starts were up 328 per cent in June compared to May leading to a total overall increase of 110 per cent over that period. In June, there were 240 single-detached housing starts and 924 of all others.
