Woman charged in Charlottetown col­li­sion

A 39-year-old woman has been charged with fail­ing to yield the right of way af­ter a two-ve­hi­cle col­li­sion dur­ing sup­per-hour traf­fic on Mon­day. Po­lice ad­vised driv­ers to avoid the in­ter­sec­tion at Malpeque Road and the by­pass af­ter the col­li­sion, which oc­curred around 5 p.m.

It in­volved a Kia Rio driven by the 39-year-old woman and a Honda Civic driven by a 19-year-old woman. A Charlottetown po­lice spokesper­son said the Rio turned in front of the civic while go­ing through the in­ter­sec­tion.

“There were no life-threat­en­ing in­juries.

Both ve­hi­cles sus­tained ex­ten­sive dam­age and were towed from the scene,” said the spokesper­son.
