Fam­ily con­nec­tions at the 2017 Canada Summer Games

Many Prince Ed­ward Is­land ath­letes are en­joy­ing con­nect­ing with fam­ily mem­bers this week at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Win­nipeg. In the photo at left, Hunter River’s Alyssa Weeks, right, had an op­por­tu­nity to watch her cousin, Quinci Birker, play beach vol­ley­ball with Team Bri­tish Columbia Sun­day. Weeks is a mem­ber of Team P.E.I.’s ath­let­ics con­tin­gent. Mean­while, Alana Murphy was in Win­nipeg on the week­end to watch her brother, Ty­nan, com­pete with Ethan Boyd as Prince Ed­ward Is­land’s men’s beach vol­ley­ball team. Alana, who now lives in Red Deer, Alta., teamed up with Lind­sey Theuerkauf to rep­re­sent P.E.I. dur­ing the 2009 Canada Games beach vol­ley­ball tour­na­ment in Summerside.
