Man who stole wallet sent to jail

A 38-year-old man who stole a wallet from some­one who gave him a drive was sen­tenced Mon­day to 30 days in jail. Charles David Ma­cAulay ap­peared be­fore Chief Judge Nancy Orr in pro­vin­cial court in Char­lot­te­town for sen­tenc­ing on the theft and breach­ing his pro­ba­tion.

Ma­cAulay will serve the sen­tence on week­ends so he can con­tinue to work. He must write an apol­ogy letter to the vic­tim and pay $100 in resti­tu­tion along with $200 in vic­tim sur­charges.
