Po­lice find co­caine, meth and weapon fol­low­ing ar­rest for breach

A 35-year-old Char­lot­te­town man who was ar­rested in Summerside for breach­ing a cour­tordered cur­few ended up being charged with drug of­fences.

Sun­day at 4:30 a.m., Summerside Po­lice Ser­vices picked the man up for breach­ing con­di­tions of an un­der­tak­ing re­quir­ing him to re­main at his home be­tween mid­night and 6 a.m.

Of­fi­cers ob­served the man get­ting out of a taxi in the Summerside area and made the ar­rest.

Fol­low­ing the ar­rest, how­ever, the ac­cused was found to be in pos­ses­sion of a large amount of drugs that po­lice sus­pected to be co­caine and metham­phetamine, along with a pro­hib­ited weapon.

He now faces charges of drug pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing, breach of an un­der­tak­ing and pos­ses­sion of a pro­hib­ited weapon.

The man re­mains in cus­tody and faces a court date to­day.
