Pesticide bylaw offers exemptions

The Guardian (Charlottetown) - - EDITORIAL -

The new Charlottetown cosmetic pesticide bylaw has been in the news recently. Some people are saying too much spraying is still happening. Deputy Mayor Mike Duffy, who is also the chair of the environment and sustainability committee, said that citizens could apply for exemptions to the bylaw. The city will send out a technician to inspect the lawn for an infestation of insects. What the Deputy Mayor didn’t say is that this technician is a former city employee and the homeowner is charged $50 for the inspection.
