Is­land per­form­ers present Coun­try Leg­ends ‘Men of the Cen­tury’ show

Cen­tral Queens United Church in Hunter River is set to host the Coun­try Leg­ends “Men of the Cen­tury” show on Thurs­day, Aug. 3.

This show has been tour­ing across the Is­land since the fall of 2016 and has been fill­ing churches and con­cert halls in the process. It is a trib­ute show to some of the great­est coun­try mu­sic leg­ends of the past 100 years.

Ar­tisits por­trayed are Johnny Cash per­formed by Ken­dall Docherty, Gene Watson per­formed by Larry Camp­bell, Ron­nie Mil­sap per­formed by Peter Burke and Merle Hag­gard per­formed by Jimi Platts.

Also part of the show are back-up mu­si­cians Brian Knox on drums and Heartz God­kin on bass.

The show prom­ises to be a night filled with some great coun­try mu­sic and laugh­ter as these well-known Is­land artists por­tray some of coun­try mu­sic’s leg­endary per­form­ers.

The show gets un­der­way at 7:30 p.m. with doors open­ing at 6:30 p.m. Tick­ets are avail­able at the door at a cost of $10 per per­son. A lunch will be served. Dur­ing this show, copies of the group’s new CD will be avail­able for sale.

This church is lo­cated on Route 2 in Hunter River. The con­cert will serve as a ma­jor fundraiser for the church and the com­mu­nity pro­jects it serves through its min­istry.
