Grocery thief gets more jail time

The Guardian (Charlottetown) - - THE ISLAND -

A P.E.I. woman who stole from a Stratford grocery store was sentenced recently to one month in jail.

Bethany Lynn Trainor, 24, will add that to the 280 days she was already serving on 11 other charges.

Trainor appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown Monday where she pleaded guilty to the theft and breaching her probation.

The court heard that in April an employee at No Frills in Stratford saw Trainor and another person leave the store without paying for several items.

Orr sentenced Trainor to one month in jail for the theft and one month for breaching her probation, which will be served concurrently.

Trainor was sentenced in June to 280 days in jail on 11 charges that included multiple thefts from grocery stores.

Along with the additional jail time, Trainor will have to pay $200 in victim surcharges.
