Hall hosts recital

So­prano Clarisse Toni­gussi to per­form

So­prano Clarisse Toni­gussi will give a per­for­mance at a recital at the Mil­ton Com­mu­nity Hall to­day at 7 p.m.

Toni­gussi is com­plet­ing her master’s de­gree at the Univer­sity of Toronto in voice per­for­mance and this year is on a recital tour across Canada fea­tur­ing the mu­sic of clas­si­cal Cana­dian women com­posers.

The recital will bring to light an ar­ray of Cana­dian women com­posers in his­tor­i­cal order, be­gin­ning with Gena Banscombe (early 1900’s) and end­ing with a work that is be­ing com­mis­sioned for her own voice us­ing text from Anne of Green Gables.

Other com­posers fea­tured in­clude Jean Coulthard, Mary Gar­diner, Jean Ethridge, Ana Sokolovic, Jana Skarecky, Martha Hill Dun­can and Melissa Hui.

The pro­gram will be about an hour, plus in­ter­mis­sion. Ad­mis­sion is $15.

The Mil­ton Com­mu­nity Hall is at 7 New Glas­gow Rd. in North Mil­ton.
