Repeat drunk driver jailed
A Brudenell woman with her third drunk driving conviction was sentenced Tuesday to 90 days in jail on two charges.
Amy Eileen Sherry, 36, appeared before Chief Judge Nancy Orr in provincial court in Charlottetown where she pleaded guilty to failing the breathalyzer. She was also sentenced for driving while disqualified.
The court heard the police arrested Sherry after receiving a complaint about a possible impaired driver. Sherry provided breathalyzer samples that were above the legal limit.
She had prior convictions for the same offence in 2011 and April 2016.
Sherry will serve the sentence intermittently and must perform 150 hours of community or pay $10 to the Eastern Kings Health Foundation for every hour not completed.
She will be on probation for two years and must pay $200 in victim surcharges.
Orr banned Sherry from driving for two years.
