HALIFAX - Cape Breton University is getting additional money from the province after it emerged publicly that Acadia University has been receiving extra funding.
Both Premier Stephen McNeil and Labi Kousoulis, the minister of Advanced Education, said Thursday that the Cape Breton school is now also on track to get money, though they won’t say how much.
Figures released last week in public accounts documents showed that Acadia received $10.5 million in additional appropriations the last fiscal year.
The money included $7 million to cover a federal loan and an extra $3.5 million for the school’s operating grant.
