Eatery gains loyal fol­low­ing

New take­out restau­rant opens in Oys­ter Bed

There’s a new pit stop for race fans to fill up their stom­achs on the way to the track this sum­mer.

The take­out restau­rant Big Momma’s Pit Stop opened ear­lier this sum­mer next to the Oys­ter Bed RiteSTOP ESSO.

While the say­ing is that “slow and steady wins the race,” the new lo­ca­tion has quickly built up cus­tomer base mix­ing tourists and lo­cals.

“I’ve seen peo­ple come here two days in a row to try dif­fer­ent things,” said kitchen man­ager Sasha Joyce. “We love our cus­tomers, they’re all great. We love all the pos­i­tive feed­back we have got­ten from our cus­tomers.”

Since open­ing, the restau­rant has seen more than 40 five-star re­views on Face­book prais­ing both its food and ser­vice.

The lo­ca­tion, which spe­cial­izes in pub style food like burg­ers, fries, ice cream and que­sadil­las, uses lo­cal prod­ucts. That in­cludes ADL ice cream and ham­burger meat from MacQuar­rie Meats in Winsloe.

“We aim to of­fer ex­cep­tional ser­vice, qual­ity prod­uct and great prices,’ said Joyce, adding that the name also fits well, with the lo­ca­tion be­ing close to the Oys­ter Bed Speed­way.

The es­tab­lish­ment, which is owned by Kenny and Angie Snow, also fills a bit of void since there are few places to eat be­tween North Rus­tico and Char­lot­te­town.

The es­tab­lish­ment is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
