Eatery gains loyal following
New takeout restaurant opens in Oyster Bed
There’s a new pit stop for race fans to fill up their stomachs on the way to the track this summer.
The takeout restaurant Big Momma’s Pit Stop opened earlier this summer next to the Oyster Bed RiteSTOP ESSO.
While the saying is that “slow and steady wins the race,” the new location has quickly built up customer base mixing tourists and locals.
“I’ve seen people come here two days in a row to try different things,” said kitchen manager Sasha Joyce. “We love our customers, they’re all great. We love all the positive feedback we have gotten from our customers.”
Since opening, the restaurant has seen more than 40 five-star reviews on Facebook praising both its food and service.
The location, which specializes in pub style food like burgers, fries, ice cream and quesadillas, uses local products. That includes ADL ice cream and hamburger meat from MacQuarrie Meats in Winsloe.
“We aim to offer exceptional service, quality product and great prices,’ said Joyce, adding that the name also fits well, with the location being close to the Oyster Bed Speedway.
The establishment, which is owned by Kenny and Angie Snow, also fills a bit of void since there are few places to eat between North Rustico and Charlottetown.
The establishment is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
