Top team still going at 9,250 pounds at Prince County Exhibition horse pull
David Gaudet’s team of Jack and Bud was the heaviest team in the Prince County Exhibition’s Horse Pull on Friday and they had the heaviest pull.
Jack and Bud, weighing in at 4,030, pulled the 9,250-pound drag – the required distance for the win.
They edged out the Lloyd Arsenault team of Dewey and Buck whose attempt at 9,250 pounds came up just short, moving the drag 11 feet, three inches.
That was two feet further than the distance Odie and Chief moved the drag for teamster Merle Ramsay.
The fourth-place team in the heavy division, Jack and Tom, owned by Gerald Taylor bowed out at 8,750 and Ralph Bernard’s team of Rex and Suzie finished at 8,250 pounds.
Brenton Poirier’s team of Rob and Jeb won the medium division with a good pull at 7,250 pounds, beating out Lee Knox’s team of Ace and Conan who were unsuccessful at that weight.
The heaviest weight attempted in the light division was 6,750 pounds, and Ricky Perry’s entry of Toby and Guy got the nod with a distance moved of seven inches. That was an inch and a half further than what Nipper and George moved the weight for teamster Joey Dewtie.
Sally and Queen placed third in the light division for owner Aubin Doucette, a partial pull at 6,250 pounds.
