Sunday Night Shenanigans hosted by Judy MacLean
Sunday Night Shenanigans, hosted by Judy MacLean, at York Community Centre on Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. presents an evening top-notch music, featuring a new family band called Guindon Family Bluegrass Band.
Members include Wayne Guindon, lead singer and guitar, Veronica Guindon, upright bass, Caleb Guindon, mandolin, and Cristy Guindon, banjolele. Their music includes a variety songs and instrumental numbers with a bluegrass flavour.
Also on the bill is accordion player Johnny Drakes from Newfoundland/Labrador who will make his first-time performance at Sunday Night Shenanigans. He is well known in Maritime music circles for his performances with” Lukeysboat”, and has several CDs on the market.
For fiddle fans, 11-year-old Amelia Parker will perform her award-winning style of fiddling. Recently, she won the Maritime Open Fiddle Championship for her age category held in Dartmouth. Amember of The Judy MacLean Dancers, at this same event she received a silver medal for step-dancing.
Also performing their exciting style of championship footwork are The Saunders Sisters (Danielle and Isabelle).
To round out the entertainment, young Quebec violinist Leandre Gaucher will perform, a winner at the Canadian Music Competitions as well as performing at Carnegie Hall.
The evening includes a 50/50 draw, light lunch and prizes.
