Sun­day Night Shenani­gans, hosted by Judy Ma­cLean, at York Com­mu­nity Cen­tre on Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. presents an evening top-notch mu­sic, fea­tur­ing a new fam­ily band called Guin­don Fam­ily Blue­grass Band.

Mem­bers in­clude Wayne Guin­don, lead singer and gui­tar, Veron­ica Guin­don, up­right bass, Caleb Guin­don, man­dolin, and Cristy Guin­don, ban­jolele. Their mu­sic in­cludes a va­ri­ety songs and in­stru­men­tal num­bers with a blue­grass flavour.

Also on the bill is ac­cor­dion player Johnny Drakes from New­found­land/Labrador who will make his first-time per­for­mance at Sun­day Night Shenani­gans. He is well known in Mar­itime mu­sic cir­cles for his per­for­mances with” Lukeys­boat”, and has sev­eral CDs on the mar­ket.

For fid­dle fans, 11-year-old Amelia Parker will per­form her award-win­ning style of fid­dling. Re­cently, she won the Mar­itime Open Fid­dle Cham­pi­onship for her age cat­e­gory held in Dart­mouth. Amem­ber of The Judy Ma­cLean Dancers, at this same event she re­ceived a sil­ver medal for step-danc­ing.

Also per­form­ing their ex­cit­ing style of cham­pi­onship foot­work are The Saun­ders Sis­ters (Danielle and Is­abelle).

To round out the en­ter­tain­ment, young Que­bec vi­o­lin­ist Le­an­dre Gaucher will per­form, a win­ner at the Cana­dian Mu­sic Com­pe­ti­tions as well as per­form­ing at Carnegie Hall.

The evening in­cludes a 50/50 draw, light lunch and prizes.
