Ryan wins Stan­hope Open

Pro Neal Ryan of Ken Wo, N.S., shot rounds of 69 and 68 to win the Stan­hope Open by a sin­gle stroke over de­fend­ing champ Marc Bour­geois of Royal Oaks.

Brian Af­fleck of Ea­gles Chance, N.S., was an­other stroke back at 139, with am­a­teur cham­pion Stephen An­der­son of Crow­bush fin­ish­ing with a to­tal of 140.

In the se­nior di­vi­sion, Steve Younker of Stan­hope shot a round of 73 to win. Chrissie MacLauch­lan of Stan­hope won the ladies di­vi­sion with a round of 78. The ladies, se­niors and men’s sec­ond di­vi­sion’s sec­ond round was can­celled due to heavy rains, but the other di­vi­sions were able to con­tinue later on in the af­ter­noon.

A to­tal of 140 golfers took part in the two-day event, with 29 of them be­ing PGA pro­fes­sion­als from the At­lantic prov­inces.
