Team Canada’s un­der-18 team started off on the right foot Satur­day.

Canada de­feated the Czech Repub­lic 3-1 in a pre-tour­na­ment game lead­ing up to this week’s Ivan Hlinka Me­mo­rial Cup.

Acadie-Bathurst de­fence­man Noah Dob­son of Summerside is a mem­ber of Team Canada.

Dob­son did not record any points against the Czech Repub­lic, but did pick up a slash­ing mi­nor at 19:35 of the third pe­riod.

Of­fen­sively, Calen Ad­di­son, Akil Thomas and Ai­dan Dun­das scored for Canada.

Alexis Gravel and Olivier Ro­drigue split the goal­tend­ing du­ties for Canada. Gravel stopped six of seven shots while Ro­drigue turned aside all eight shots he faced.

Canada opens tour­na­ment play against Rus­sia today at 10:30 a.m., At­lantic time.
