Canadian under-18 team wins pre-tournament game
In preparation for Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup
Team Canada’s under-18 team started off on the right foot Saturday.
Canada defeated the Czech Republic 3-1 in a pre-tournament game leading up to this week’s Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup.
Acadie-Bathurst defenceman Noah Dobson of Summerside is a member of Team Canada.
Dobson did not record any points against the Czech Republic, but did pick up a slashing minor at 19:35 of the third period.
Offensively, Calen Addison, Akil Thomas and Aidan Dundas scored for Canada.
Alexis Gravel and Olivier Rodrigue split the goaltending duties for Canada. Gravel stopped six of seven shots while Rodrigue turned aside all eight shots he faced.
Canada opens tournament play against Russia today at 10:30 a.m., Atlantic time.
