Isabelle Bernard honoured for efforts as bilingual administrative assistant

The Étoile Santé winner for July 2017 is bilingual administrative assistant Isabelle Bernard, who works at Summerset Manor.

In the workplace, Bernard is known for her efficiency, as well as her ability to always make herself available to carry out pressing tasks. Welcoming and resourceful, she is often the first point of contact for the public and families and is happy to be able to offer services in both languages.

She can answer people’s questions and direct them to the appropriate services. She knows the families of Frenchspeaking residents and is more than happy to speak to them in their language.

“I know that it’s important for them to be greeted in French, and it can also reassure them to know that French-speaking individuals are present in their loved one’s environment.”

After finishing high school, Bernard decided to enrol in the bilingual administrative assistant program at Collège de l’Île and graduated in June 2016. In July 2016, she accepted the position at the Summerset Manor.

At first, she was only on call, but then the administration decided to designate a bilingual administrative assistant position, because of the bilingual neighbourhood established at the manor a few years ago. She applied and started working full-time in December 2016.
