Souris-area man and woman rescued from stranded dinghy
A man and a woman from the Souris area are safe after they were rescued while in a dinghy offshore near St. Margarets on Saturday. Kings District RCMP responded to a call at 5:30 p.m. after a report that two people were offshore in a rubber dinghy fighting the tides and currents.
The man and the woman weren’t wearing life jackets and didn’t have paddles with them.
A Kings District RCMP officer joined a fishing boat captain and mate at Naufrage Harbour before rescuing the two people.
Members of the Souris Fire Department were also dispatched, and Island EMS attended the scene. Neither of the dinghy’s occupants required medical treatment.
