No jail time for woman who pawned cam­era

A P.E.I. woman who gam­bled away money she got from pawn­ing a fam­ily mem­ber’s cam­era has been given a con­di­tional dis­charge.

Marie My­lene Peters, 49, ap­peared be­fore Judge John Dou­glas re­cently in pro­vin­cial court in Char­lot­te­town for sen­tenc­ing for pos­sess­ing prop­erty ob­tained by crime.

The court heard Peters pawned the high-end cam­era at Most Wanted for $400 and gam­bled the money.

With the con­di­tional dis­charge, Peters will be on pro­ba­tion for one year, which in­cluded con­di­tions ban­ning her from Red Shores and any places that have video lot­tery ter­mi­nals.

Peters must also pay $400 in resti­tu­tion to Most Wanted and a $100 vic­tim sur­charge.
